How PSD To CSS Helps In Structuring A Website

It has now become very fashionable these days to move towards PSD to CSS because of some inherent advantages that are available to the end user. So let us over the next few lines try and find out something more about the various reasons why there is such a craze for PSD to CSS conversion. Before we understand more about the advantages for such conversion we should try and find out why there is a need to convert PSD to CSS. Unless this is understood clearly we would not be in a position to understand the advantages associated with such conversions. So let us spend some time trying and understanding the reasons for such conversion.

CSS which is the acronym of Cascading Style Sheet is basically the name given to the various presentation features that go in a document that is written in some common mark up languages like HTML or XHTML. The basic reason why CSS is used is to segregate the contents of a document and separate it from other elements of document presentations such as font size and style, color, layout and other such things. While this is fine there are quite a few customers who would be willing to know why then there is a mad rush to move from PSD to CSS or even from PSD to HTML. The main answer for this question is the fact that such conversion helps the user to gain greater access to the content and also gives him more flexibility and control in changing the elements with regard to presentation. This is not possible under a PSD environment and the need to do such changes could be quite complicated and time consuming. Further if the customer decides to convert convert PSD to HTML/CSS it allows him to share multi page formatting and brings down the repetitive tasks quite significantly apart from bring down the complexities in designing the structural content of the web page.

It is a known fact that web designers originally design a web page taking a lot of factors into account. They draw out the potential of each and every web page and use PSD for the purpose. PSD is nothing but Photoshop Document. PSD is very helpful in graphic designing and also in editing. But while all this is fine but finally it has to be written in hypertext mark up language format or with the use of HTML for the browser. This indeed is a tough task. This is because HTML is often called the foundation stone of web page. Once a particular design has been approved either by using PSD or CSS, it has to be encoded in HTML or XHTML. By the way, XHTML is a higher version of HTML. The biggest advantage with HTML is that it enables the user to embed images and objects which is very useful in denoting special structures like links, quotes, paragraphs, lists, etc. Usually CSS is used in HTML coding. This is basically done to define the look and feel of the text and other such content. This would not be possible without either PSD to CSS conversion or moving from PSD to HTML. The web pages can be recognized by the various web browsers only when such conversions take place.
